Lost and Found

Parents!  How much sailing gear to you buy every year?  Answer, "Loads".  How many watches, gloves, boots, do you lose every year?  The answer is "None".  BUT...... how much stuff does your sailor lose?  Now that's a different story.

The webmaster is being continuallly asked to put "a note on the website" about such things as a lost watch, a missing top cover, or an accidentally swapped sprit.  I hope through this new "Lost and Found" page that all parents who lose something (sorry, whose sailor's lose something) will be able to post a plea for help.

Similarly if you find something lying around and can find an owner, you can fulfil your legal responsibilties with regard to found property here.  If you take reasonable steps to discover the owner and no one turns up to claim the item then it's yours.

The page can also be used by clubs who, after Oppie events, are left with changing rooms full of lost rash vests, odd boots and gloves and all manner of carelessly discarded sailing gear.  If they wish to make a list, it will be published here.  If owners don't claim their stuff then the club can dump it or sell it off for the benefit of the lifeboat or whatever.

Found property at the Ulster’s in Royal Northern Ireland Yacht Club

As usual there was a lot of lost property left behind at the Ulster’s.  Not as much as usual so you all must be getting better.  Most has been repatriated and the only expensive item appears to be a pair of hikers.  No name as usual.  Owner can claim by contacting Eileen at 028 90428041.

Of course there is the usual array of odd socks, gloves, T shirts and underpants.  These will be kept for a week and then disposed of as toxic waste.  If there is something you are looking for in particular, please contact Eileen.
