New IODAI Forum up and running - AGAIN!!
Apologies to all sailors and parents. The Forum has been disabled for some months now due to administrative difficulties. It's now back up and running. As the 2009 season approaches we would hope that every single sailor and parent should register, and be able to read and reply to posts and topics. It's easy, have a go. Just click on the link on the top right hand cvorner of the home page - or this page in fact. Last year you will recall that we had several attempts at getting an online discussion forum up and running. This was very successful but the software we were using was a very popular program and as such many very clever computer people with nothing better to do found ways of circumventing our registration requirements and were able to automatically apply for membership. While their membership could be stopped at an early stage this proved labour intensive - up to 15 bogus applications were being received daily and each had to be deleted manually. Duriung the short time they appeared on the member list, they generally had a website link displayed. In some rare cases these links led to websites which may not have been suitable for Oppie sailors. Eventually the board was suspended.
While undesirable sites may be accessed easily on the web, IODAI would not like to think that any unsuitable site was accessed via the IODAI website. We now have new software and a new discussion board. All previous topics have been erased but the categories remain and indeed if your were a member of the previous discussion board your membership has been transferred over. You will need to log in and reset your password etc. Use your e-mail address as your username (up to 20 characters only - be aware if your e-mail address is long) and then all old membership passwords have been set to the word, "password". Once logged in you may change to private and secure details. I do hope you enjoy and make full use of the new forum.
