IODAI Online Forum - NOW BACK ONLINE!!

Apologies to all sailors and parents.  The Forum has been disabled for a short while due to administrative difficulties.  It's now back up and running.  As the 2009 season approaches we would hope that every single sailor and parent should register, and be able to read and reply to posts and topics.  It's easy, have a go.  Instructions below.  The more posts we have the better.  And unlike everything else about oppies -  IT'S FREE!!

The forum is having some teething problems and I would ask everyone to be patient while we sort it out.  Do doubt we'll get there and ensure that we can use this facilitity to it's maximum in safe environment.

If you haven't registered, do so NOW.  Any difficulties, contact editor@iodai.com

Forum archived news:

Over the last 24hours (22nd/23rd November) a number of inappropriate posts have been placed on the IODAI Online Forum.  It has therefore been necessary to limit access to the forum and all sub-forums to genuine, bona vide members and friends of IODAI and the OPtimist Class.  The procedures for registering are set out below, however after you register and attempt to access the Forum, you will receive this message:

Sorry, but only users granted special access can read topics in this forum.

Don't worry, this is normal and it will require the webmaster to validate your account and grant you permission to read and post to the forums and topics.  There are a number of things you can do to speed up this process:

  1. When you register, fill in as much information as possible so that the webmaster will know who you are, and that you are an IODAI member or a friend of the Optimist Class.
  2. Best way to do this is to make your username your full name and sail number.  The webmaster can then check these details in the membership database and authenticate your registration.
  3. Send an e-mail to editor@iodai.com saying you have registered and the webmaster will be able to access you registration and allow you access to the forums

Note: All previously registered accounts for IODAI members and friends have been validated and require no further action.  Any inappropriate posts on IODAI Forums should be reported to the webmaster immediately editor@iodai.com

General instructions

Your webmaster has now set up an online forum for use by all members:

The Forum has been divided in a number of sub-forums so that you can easily find the subject you want to hear and talk about.  Otherwise it just becomes a long list of topics

Many online forums are set up but many fail due to inaapropriate use and rude comments which eventually causes the forum to be closed.  IODAI Forum rules are simple:

The Forum is for use by all IODAI Oppie Sailors and their parents.  Other Oppie sailors and those associated are welcome to post to the forum provided they observe proper protocol and all posts are in conjunction with the sport of sailing.  Any contributor posting inappropriate or abusive material will be banned from using the forum.

What to do now:

  1. Click on the link at the top right hand corner of the homepage or click here http://www.iodai.com/forum/ for convenience
  2. Unless you have registered you will not be able to access the forum.
  3. You must now register
  4. When you register you will NOT YET be able to read or post to the forum pages until your registration has been approved by the webmaster.  There are a number of things you can do to speed up this process:
