Leinster Coaching CANCELLED YET AGAIN 30th November

From Mick Ruigrok, Leinster Coaching Coordinator:

"We will have to cancel the coaching this Sunday (30th) and instead we will have a 2 day session on Saturday and Sunday next weekend (6th and 7th). We have a shortage of engines this weekend which has given no choice but to cancel. Perhaps it is just as well as the forecast is for quite strong winds from the North which would be very cold on the water. I apologise for the upset in the coaching this year but between the weather and the unfortunate theft of engines from MYC it has left a bit of a struggle to keep things on the right track. Please check to see that everyone has been informed by this web posting and email and if you notice a name missing from the list please let them know. Next weekend will not be cancelled regardless of weather.  If the weather is not suitable for sailing, we will be doing fitness and theory.

NOTE: For anyone travelling to the KYC event on the 13th and 14th of December if they could let Finbar O' Regan know in advance so that knows how many people are going.

End

Again it looks like the weather gods are going to be unkind to Leinster Oppie sailors and with WindGuru currently forecasting 30+ knots, Mick Ruigrok has decided to cancel this Sunday's session 23rd November.  Planning is already underway to replace the lost day and as on the previous occasion, he hope to have a double dunter two-day weekend next weekend (29th and 30th).  More details here and by e-mail when confirmed.  Could all clubs please try to ensure that their fellow members are aware and don't have wasted journeys.

In view of a fairly poor weather forecast for this weekend, Mick Ruigrok has decided to cancel this weekend’s Leinster Coaching Session on Sunday 9th.November.

In order that we don’t lose the day’s coaching Mick is organising two days for next weekend, Saturday and Sunday 15th and 16th November when ISA coach Thomas Chaix will be in attendance.

Mick is away at the moment and he is concerned that his e-mail list above may not have all sailors addresses.  Could we ask that you communicate as far as possible with each other and make sure no one has a wasted journey to Malahide on Sunday.  I have spoken to Pat Keller and he has offered to inform Lough Derg members.  Perhaps each club could do similar.  I have looked after the Royal North contingent – all two of us.

We will send you more news on next weekend early in the week but at this point in time assume it will be on, two days, usual place, usual times.  A two day session before the weather gets really cold and with Thomas there, should be really beneficial.

Mich Ruigrok sets out the plans for Leinster Training as we move to the next session:

With sunshine and medium winds, last Sunday saw probably the most productive and full day so far of the Autumn Training sessions.  With 28 boats on the water, 4 coaches in four boats the weather provided a full days coaching and three short races.  All sailors went home hvaing had a great day on the water and just a little bit tired.  If the weather continues to be kind the next five week session should see some real progress in sailing performance.

Mick Ruigrok, coaching organiser said, "Finally the coaches were able to access the sailors on the water and it is only now that the real coaching can take place. As we move into the second session the coaches targets will be:

1) Build a bond with the Sailors and access each sailors sailing ability.

2) Seperate into groups which best suit the sailors level.

3) To build each sailors confidence on and off the water by building friendships and fun in a controled environment.

4) To have independent sailors with the ability to go sailing without the parents involvement. We will be asking parents to begin stepping back more from the kids in the boatpark and the coaches will replace them in the boatpark from 9.30am each session.

Your Coaches will do their utmost to achieve these targets while at the same time keeping the emphisis on enjoyable sport. Thank you for your support."

Directing his thoughts towards parents, MIck said, "The ability to support your kids and yet give them enough room to allow them to take on the challange of sailing is not easy for parents. However you will find that the coaches we have are exceptionally good and Malahide is a perfect venue. Our target is to teach your kids to have a life long love for sailing and to have the confidence to travel to a regional event with the ability to sail against kids of the same age and perhaps even win from time to time.

"John White will be sending an email with some helpfull information for the sailors which we hope you will pass on to the kids."
