Leinster Autumn Training starts in glorious weather

One of the most beautiful Sundays this year saw the start of IODAI Leinster Autumn Training kick off with a fantastic 28 boats.  Training Organiser Mick Ruigrok said, "The response has been fantastic and I know a lot of people couldn't make it today.  I think we may see as many as 40 boats here for training.   I had four coaches booked for this Sunday thinking I had plenty to maintian the 7 to 1 ratio.  I just made it but it's clear that more coaches will be required in the coming weeks.  Everyone is still welcome but if you haven't already told me you are coming please drop me an e-mail to tulip.mobil@iol.ie.  The 7:1 sailor/coach ratio is important for quality training and I want to maintain it".

Malahide Yacht Club's Broadmeadows location is an excellent venue for training where the sailors can get on the water in a very safe environment.  Sailing is often possible here when other venues are declared "blown out".  The flat water provides the perfect coaghing environment where coaches can really get to work with the sailors.

The IODAI Committee, parents and sailors all express their sincere gratititude to Malahide Yacht Club for the use of their facilities.  Their investment in junior sailing will, we hope, pay dividends for the future.

Although there wasn't a lot of wind, the first coaching session involved fitness training; theory; sail rigging and some light air on-the-water coaching.  Here's hoping for the same sunshine and just a little more wind in the coming weeks.
