Congratulations to all our Trials qualifiers - Team Selection Rules

IODAI Rules for World & European Teams

1.       At the end of the trials, regardless of gender, the first five sailors will be offered places on the World team.

2.       The European team will be made up of the next seven sailors with a maximum of four from one gender as per IODA rule 6.2 of NOR.

3.       The next three sailors with a maximum of two sailors from one gender will be offered places as subs to the teams.

4.       All three subs will be invited to take part in the IODAI training programme set out the World and European teams.

5.       All team sailors including subs will be offered an Irish Life Jacket.

6.       Each of the World and European teams will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit of €1000 by Friday 16th May 2008 (the deposit if paid in advance is refundable up to 16th May).

7.       Up until the 16th May potential team members may swap places between the World and European teams once it is mutually agreed between both sailors. Any such swaps must be formally submitted to the Hon. Secretary at honsec@iodai.com and subject to approval by the IODAI committee.

8.       On the 16th May if a World team sailor indicates that they are not taking up their place, then that position will be offered to the first sailor on the European team. This offer will be made by phone and an immediate answer will be required. Should the offer not be taken up the offer will continue down the list of European team members. If the World place is not taken up by a European team member then it will be offered to the first sub. If the vacant world place is taken by a team member then their European place will be offered to the first sub subject to the gender rule.

9.       On or after the 17th of May, if a World or European team sailor gives up their place then that place will be offered to the first sub, whether it is a World or European team place, subject to the gender rule.

10.   IODAI will endeavour to keep costs reasonable and all monies due from sailors are to be paid by 30th May 2008.

11.   All selected sailors are required to commit to the IODAI Team training programme and the IODAI code of conduct for behaviour.
