IODAI Regionals and National Championships 2006
Change to Sailing Instructions – Scoring
The Low Points Scoring system will be used for all events SPAN>
( Per Appendix A – ISAF 2005 -2008)
Additionally the ISAF 2005-2008 Rules Appendix A (Scoring) state that :

The IODAI National committee feel that given the fact that our sailors should be given maximum encouragement this unduly penalises sailors who actually sail and despite making the effort end up as a did not finish.
Accordingly race management for the 2006 regional and national events are requested to post the following amendments to their SIs: SPAN>
‘A boat that did not finish (DNF), retired (RTD) or was out of time (OOT) will be scored points for the finishing place one more than the number of finishers in the race. Boats that do not start (DNS), are disqualified (DSQ) or do not come to the sailing area (DNC) will be scored in accordance with Rule A4.2 - ie will be scored points for the finishing place one more than the number of boats entered in the series.’
This change obviously places a heavy onus on race management to establish procedures that appropriately account for boats that elect SPAN>to compete but retire during the course of a race as these should be scored DNF.
Fleet Assignments:
Fleet assignments have been made based on the Results of the 2006 Trials (top 30 Gold, next 30 Silver) UNLESS a sailor had previously been promoted to a higher fleet. The highest fleet attained by a sailor shall apply.
Fleet Promotions:
Sailors who achieve a top 6 result in a fleet, in 2005 and 2006 combined, in two of the regional & national events will be promoted to the next fleet.
