Crosbie Cup Fun in Lough Ree

There was a fantastic turn out of Silver and Regatta Fleet Sailors at this years Crosbie Cup in Lough Ree Yacht Club. The Hardworking team at Lough Ree made everyone feel welcome and there was a warm, Friendly fun atmosphere at the event.

At the Crosbie Cup Junior and Senior fleet sailors race together but it was Junior Ewan Mc Mahon from Howth Yacht Club who surfaced early as the major contender for the Crosbie Cup.
Newbie to the circuit this year he wasn't outside the top 5 results and won the event comfortably 17 points ahead of Douglas Elmes from WHSC and Richard Thompson from RCYC.

Four races were achieved on Saturday in fresh to strong conditions ( 10 to 20 kts) which proved challenging to the ligher sailors. On Sunday light winds and mist that was to clear early ment sailors had to be towed to the start line. However the breeze filled in across the lake and 2 races were achieved in wind strengths varying between 5 and 12 kts.

The Regatta Fleeters sailed closer to the Yacht Club and in Katie Malcolm's absence (currently at the Europeans) the head coach was Katie White. They sailed 6 races in total and had lunch on the water on Sunday afternoon.

The sailors sailed home early on Sunday after completing the full series.

Thanks to all at Lough Ree for hosting an excellent event.
